CZECH LANGUAGE COURSES AT UW-MADISON
Czech is currently offered in a two-year, repeating sequence. First-Semester Czech (SL115) and First-Semester Intensive Czech (SL351) along with Second-Semester Czech (SL116) and Second-Semester Intensive Czech (SL352) are taught in the first year of the sequence. In the second year, Third-Semester Czech (SL217) and Second-Semester Intensive Czech (SL451) along with Fourth-Semester Czech (SL218) and Fourth-Semester Intensive Czech (SL452) are taught. The introductory sequence will be taught during the academic year 2003-04, and the intermediate sequence during the year 2004-05.
The intensive courses are reserved for graduate students in Slavic and other students who are already proficient in another Slavic language or have prior experience with Czech (eg, heritage speakers and students who have spent a considerable amount of time in the Czech Republic). The intensive courses generally meet with the non-intensive ones, but students in the former have supplemental work and higher expectations of performance.
More advanced instruction is provided in the form of directed studies. For more information, contact David Danaher.
